As a teacher, I'd make sure to give students a basic understanding and fair use. More and more content is consumed by students on the internet and is important that students understand how to avoid legal issues. I would teach students how to access content that they are able to use freely. I learned the difference between copyright infringement and plagiarism in class. I also learned how to create a creative commons license for my own work and how to attribute images to their owner according to their CC. Now that I have learned about this topic I am confident in my ability to teach others about this information.
One important technology implementation issue is Academic dishonesty. In my classroom, I would impose a strict and explicitly clear Academic dishonesty policy. This policy would include a clause about the use of AI for academic works. All students would be required to agree to this policy. While this may seem strict, I think it is extremely important that students do their own work both for learning purposes and for ethical reasons. Ideally, there would be a school-wide polucy that would be applied to all classes. But if this isn't the case, my students would still be held to a higher standard. It is important that students become used to the idea of academic integrity early on as it becomes increasingly important throughout their academic life.
The newsletter helped me learn how to insert graphics onto a word document. I also became more comfortable with editing the format of the document such as adding columns and changing the margins. I became more comfortable with MS Word in general after this assignment as I hadn't used it as extensively on the past. In the future, I would like to add other visual elements to my newsletter to make it more engaging. If I become a teacher, the skills I learned making the newsletter will be very helpful as I will probably have to create a similar document for my students and their familiers. If I pursue a different career, the increased comfort I gained with MS Word will allow me to create documents more efficiently and effectively. No matter what career I pursue, I will likely need to add graphics or change the formatting of a document to complete different tasks.
